Autumn Lectures Waterloo to World War II and Other Medals

Autumn Lectures Waterloo to World War II and Other Medals

Worthing Museum presents the Autumn Lecture Series.
Our hugely popular lecture series returns on Thursday evenings this October & November. An intimate season of talks with our archaeology curator James Sainsbury and guest speakers. Explore a wide range of subjects from Paleolithic mega-floods and Stone Age religion to the stories of famous local landmarks, Norman invaders and World War I. This year we’ll also have two special lectures looking at fascinating elements of our museum collections – a newly discovered Victorian naval journal and our extensive, hidden medals collection. Ticket price includes a glass of wine or tea/coffee.

Waterloo to World War II and other medals
Join guest speaker Robin Bennett for an in-depth look at some of our incredible medal collection. Using military and commemorative medals Robin will take us on a journey from the battle of Waterloo, through to World War II and beyond. As well as awards for gallantry and operational service, we will examine the use of medals to commemorate events and even as propaganda. We will then discuss a couple of conundrums in the collection, before a final object handling session with these pieces.

Please Note If you buy tickets for all 8 talks in the series in one transaction, two will be free. Discount automatically applied at checkout.
