Littlehampton’s famous Bonfire Celebrations regularly attract large crowds to witness the spectacular torchlight processions, mammoth bonfire and seafront firework display. We always hold our celebrations on the last SATURDAY of OCTOBER. As well as providing entertainment for residents and visitors, the event enables us to support many local charities and good causes.
We’re still looking for entries for this year’s procession, so please share with people you think may be interested. Thank you!
The society wants to invite walking groups, bands, traction engines, floats, marshals and charity collectors for our night. We are searching for volunteers to help with fundraising events throughout the year, to help us to make torches, to help to build and guard the bonfire, to set out road closure signs and barriers, to marshal, to help with the clear up the morning after.
We are also looking for sponsors and want to thank Recycle Southern for sponsoring our bonfire this year.
Most of all we are hoping to attract new members as without new blood coming in we won’t have a long term future.
The bonfire is put on by local people just like you and me. Working people who do this in their spare time to put on a fantastic free event for the townsfolk. It is fun to get involved and gives you a sense of belonging and doing something for the town that you live in. You’ll make friends and have fun too! It’s not all about the work involved! Marching through your town in a costume you’ve made and are proud of with your friends and family watching and the happy smiling faces of the children (and adults) is lovely!
